B3 at NCCC Mall: The Bowlers’ Haven In Davao

June 20, 2011 by Davao Traveler Admin Leave a Comment

Bowling, Billiards, Bar.

If these three things perk your interest or even just your curiosity, you might want to pay B3 a visit. Located at the third floor of the NCCC Mall in Matina, B3 offers competition-standard 20 lane tenpin bowling facility, billiard games, and a restobar all in one sprawling fully air-conditioned floor.

Families and groups of friends find themselves enjoying such a recreational place that caters to varied interests. One does not have to be a highly athletic person to engage in the activities provided by B3. The automated bowling lanes are definitely the showcase of B3.

If Bowling Is Your Thing

The first of its kind in Mindanao, B3 is home to the city’s premier tenpin bowling associations: the Davao Tenpin Bowling Association (DATBA) and the Durian Tenpin Bowling Association (DUTBA). It has recently hosted a national competition that welcomed bowlers from all over the country in celebration of Araw ng Dabaw. B3 was indeed up to par in meeting competitors’ expectations and ably serving the guests.

Watch this video and take a virtual tour of B3.

Though B3 boasts of high-grade facilities fit for competitions, it is also very friendly to beginners and recreational players. Bowling shoes are rented out for P30 while bowling balls of varying weights are readily available and displayed in strategically located racks. The attendants are very accommodating and generally have sunny dispositions which make playing at B3 a pleasant experience. One may leave the operating of the scoring monitor to them. A regular bowling game will cost P60. But if you play in the early afternoon of a weekday, it can cost P55 per game; or you may also avail of the promo rate of P180 per hour. On the average, one may finish 5-6 games in an hour. So this is a relatively good deal.

B3 also has a pro shop where one may buy related bowling equipment such as balls (which could be customized for proper fit), bags, shoes, and hand wraps. The pro shop is managed by an accomplished bowler who may also be tapped for coaching sessions at a reasonable fee.

Did We Say Billiards Too?

If bowling is not your thing, a section of B3 is allocated for billiards with around 6-8 tables. A small group of four may enjoy billiards for only P100 per hour. Dart games have been recently added at the billiards section to amp up the fun.

Bowling and Billiard Meets Chow

The activities at B3 are made more enjoyable by the food and refreshments at its restobar. One may eat at the restaurant area or the food may also be brought to the gaming areas if one so requests. Food at B3 range from reasonably priced rice meals (P85+) to ice cream preparations to pizza and pasta, soups and salads, and full-blown Pinoy viands like sisig and nilagang baka. Various beverages are on hand for further refreshment. B3 also provides a TV set at the restaurant area for entertainment and information.

Since Davao City forbids smoking in public places, B3 has made available a special smoking room for its guests who cannot live without their nicotine fix. Though this is not exactly a healthy option, B3 still caters to the comfort of its guests.

On the same floor as B3 are the Mall’s movie theaters and video arcade. Thus, more opportunity for fun and recreation at one convenient location.
